This is the follow up to Future World History trilogy. The trilogy told the story of what happened to Earth as a result of the invention of a new and unlimited source of electrical power. At the end of the trilogy an alien, who has played a part in Earth’s history for thousands of years, convinces a group of people from Earth and Procolt 2 leave their homes and migrate to a planet thousands of light years from Earth, in an effort to create the ultimate humanoid civilization. 
The trip is long and is not without problems, but after their new life begins on Janus they discover the planet has a very interesting and perilous history.
